Vitamin D comes in a group of fat-soluble vitamins and increases the absorption of calcium and phosphate in the body. Among the most important compounds in this group in humans, Vitamin D-3 and Vitamin D-2 are included. The body also produces vitamin D in the presence of sunlight from cholesterol in the skin. That is why it is often called sunshine vitamins.
